Upcoming Event: THE PILLAR

This event will run from October 25th through November 8th.

EDIT: Sign-ups extended until end-of-day October 22nd.

Event Text

Tonight there is a storm. Lightning flashes across the sky, and the tang of electromagnetic interference is thick in the new air of Cybertron. The strikes are beautiful, lancing out in every color of the visual spectrum and more than a few colors beyond it, moving through the stars.

There are no clouds, however. There is no weather or rain.
There is only the Lambda, churning violently above the Haven, pulling winds in vast, large circular patterns around its epicenter: The Junk Pile. Dust swirls. Debris flies. The winds grow stronger and stronger through the night, until even the heaviest robots find themselves impeded if they try to approach.

It is only the Firstforged who remain steadfast, appearing one by one from their temples to approach the temptest storm. In the morning, they gather, and as the first light of the distant Cybertronian sun crests the horizon, they each unsheathe their weapons of choice.

The winds calm.

The lightning ceases.

For a moment, all is well.

Then, the Pillar strikes the ground.

It sends up shockwaves, burying the Firstforged in clouds of dust and rubble, making a deep noise like vast plates of metal buckling. To some, the sound seems oddly high-pitched and painful to hear. To others, it is disorienting.

To a select few, it is even
changing.

When the dust clears, the Firstforged are gone and the junk pile has resettled, its peaks and valleys utterly different than they have been before. Buildings outside of the temples may have sustained damages from the heavy winds, and some electronics will still be functioning oddly from the lightning strikes.

However, there is something even stranger to note.

Sitting in the junk, amidst the rubble, is the Pillar.

It is precisely in the center of the Haven, just beneath the lambda and extending up as far as the naked eye can see--appearing even to reach into the lambda itself. Those who approach will find it makes a low-pitched hum, and is eerily warm to the touch. However, even those who do not approach will find it difficult to ignore the quiet unsettling feeling it leaves by just existing.

What’s worse is those who were ill-affected by the initial shock of its landing. They’re different, now, in both appearance and thought. They cannot remember their time here in the Haven any more than they can remember aspects of their lives before. Now, they remember different lives.

Alternate lives.

They act as if their past has utterly changed...and for a time, the Firstforged are not around to explain it.

It is up to the citizens of the Haven to realize what is wrong, and to come up with a solution for the problem--if one is even possible. It is up to the citizens to hold down the fort while its protectors are away. It is up to the denizens of Re-Aligned to
chose their alignment.

How this works
Again, this event will run from October 25th through November 8th...meaning all that text above hasn't happened yet.

On the day leading up to the event there will be the storm, and starting the first day of the event the Firstforged will have ‘vanished’ and the Altered History effect will begin. This effect will last for two weeks, at which point either the players have solved the problem of the pillar or it will resolve itself.

By November 9th, the Firstforged will be back in the Haven and everyone will have returned to normal.

Firstforged Departure
The Pillar event consists of two sub-events...the Firstforged Departure and the Altered History effect.

Up until October 25th it can be assumed that the Firstforged have been going about their usual duties--generally unavailable but still present in the Haven.

After the night the Pillar falls, they will be unreachable. For two weeks, the Firstforged will be absolutely gone, vanished as if they’d not been there in the first place. Acolytes will wander in a daze or will continue tirelessly to do tasks that no one has told them to STOP (leading to many an over-polished floor.) Glyphs will still be present on all Refugees, but will seem dimmer. Those who have previously died or entered the badlands will feel a distinct pull towards the Pillar.

Something is definitely wrong.

Following the event, the Firstforged will return for a brief period (starting on November 9th). The appearance of the Pillar will have alerted them to the fact that Unicron is stepping up his game, and its now time for them to get serious. Some will be departing to watch the Lamda from space, others to keep an optic on the badlands, and others still to speed the work on Cybertron’s interior in hopes that Prima will return sooner if its done.

Before leaving to do all of those things, they will want to talk to their aligned.

Altered History
The second half of the Pillar event is the Altered History effect.

Participation on the Altered History effect is up to you! Should you wish to take part, you will need to complete the sign-up form below and submit it to this post before October 20th.

All characters hit by the Altered History ‘waves’ that the Pillar emits will find themselves changed. One significant moment in their past will have been altered, disrupting their personality and even potentially their appearance. Their new history will feel (and will BE) the real history for them. They will not remember changing, they will not remember any parts of their previous past, and they will not remember any time spent in Re-Aligned.
For all intents and purposes, it will seem to them like they just landed on this Cybertron for the first time.

However, the Altered History effect will only have an influence on THEM. While they may look and act very differently, their glyph will not have changed, their room will still have the same contents, and all their previous messages will still be on their communications device (or in their logs, for those with built-in Link connections.) Additionally, anyone not affected by the Pillar's AH waves will still remember them as they are supposed to be.

Example!
War for Cybertron!Megatron’s past has been changed. Instead of flying into a rage on the council floor and deciding to form the Decepticons and kill everyone ever, he distinctly remembers accepting Optimus’s offer to join with him to fix the corruption inherent in Cybertron’s bureaucracy. Together, they began building a system of significant reform, aiming to eventually abolish the Senate and start their political system anew. However, when the Senate received wind of this they reacted badly, naming Optimus, Megatron, and their followers outlaws. Megatron spent the next several million years with Optimus at the head of the Rebellion, championing equal rights for robots, campaigning peacefully sometimes to get help from alien races and to convince the Council of the error of their ways (Optimus’s idea), and conducting deadly battles other times against the vast armies of drones sent to annihilate them. They called themselves the Autocons.
In R/A Megatron’s brand is now different, a blue symbol with square eyes and sharp points. It matches his eerily blue optics.
He remembers his last conversation with Optimus on his homeworld, the red truck arguing with him about whether the coming battle could be avoided, both of them throwing angry words at each other as he staunchly refused to back down. He remembers turning to leave, disgusted, before hearing Optimus sigh and say ‘be careful, and don’t die.’
This makes Megatron thoroughly perplexed at the actual death threats he clearly has been exchanging with Optimus on his Link device in the Haven a week before.
He’s even more perplexed by the purple Decepticon motif that is emblazoned on everything he owns, and has no idea how these items came to be in a room which only opens for him.

Sign-ups
Anyone who wants to notice the bizzare happenings surrounding this event are welcome to do so at any point during it! Catch an Acolyte walking in circles, find yourself hugging the pillar every day before work, clean up all the debris that mysteriously flew into your room during the storm.

If you’d like to be additionally be changed by the Altered History, all you’ll have to do is fill out this form:

We do ask that you really think about your answers, and provide three or more large paragraphs for the history and personality sections. We’ll look each submission over and give it an okay so long as its solid and not game-breaky(so basically so long as it follows the rules of a normal app). If there’s something we’re unsure about we’ll ask before approving it. However, its better to be thorough than to be vague (especially since we will be reviewing these, and we’re already notorious for our slowness in pinging back and forth.)

Beyond that, feel free to use your creativity and come up with something you'll really enjoy~

Character name: Barricade
Character journal: [personal profile] namesnotprowl
Altered History: Barricade’s past has changed… or rather, it hasn’t. Barricade was never dropped through a portal into Axiom Nexus before the Fallen rose again (as it were), and was never ripped away from his own death in Chicago to live on a space station called Sacrosanct. His life continued as it was supposed to… for better or for worse. He still severed his connections with the Decepticons in 2007 and was in hiding until 2009. At that point – when he had been pulled to Axiom – he instead let his obsession with revenge for Frenzy get the better of him and went after Bumblebee and Sam on his own. He had the tar beaten out of him by Bumblebee, which thoroughly quelled any desire for a future attempt at vengeance and also sent him crawling back to rejoin the Decepticons. He spent much of the action of Revenge of the Fallen recovering from his injuries at Bumblebee’s hands. While he was sitting around he also took the initiative to hook himself into the Internet to try to keep up with N.E.S.T’s movements around the globe – he’d learned their usual containment language and it was helpful up until the Fallen revealed their presences. If nothing else, it kept him occupied and possibly even kept a few other Decepticons alive for a while.
He recovered from these injuries in time to have his aft handed to him once again by Bumblebee (with a little help from Mirage and Que), and once again had to limp away to lick his wounds. As with the last time he connected to the Internet to keep tabs on Decepticon interests – or at least things that the Decepticons might find interesting or exploitable. Point in fact, he was the one that suggested Chicago as their base for the beginning of the invasion; with its number of waterways and few real exits the city could be quickly locked down and fortified against intruders. Unfortunately he would live to regret the decision; rather than dying – or being whisked away to another dimension – he played dead long enough for the soldiers that shot his legs off to grow bored and leave. He had to cauterize his own lines with one of his on-board rifles to keep from bleeding out. Even so, he would have perished if not for the intervention of Flatline and a small squad of Lensmeters.
Barricade had the distinction of being the only officer to survive the Decepticon defeat at Chicago and has since taken over at leader of the Decepticons. He goes by the name of Lord High Protector and has nearly single-handedly managed to keep the remaining Decepticon forces alive. He directs them from an abandoned underground mine, instructing his troops in how to stay off of the Autobots’ radar… and how to fight back. They have been trying to pick off the remaining Autobots through hit-and-run tactics, using N.E.S.T’s own energon detectors as traps across the globe. What Barricade is really waiting for, though, is for another Autobot ship to arrive. Once one does, he’s going to get himself and his remaining forces off of Earth to find somewhere more hospitable to colonize.

Altered Personality: The differences between the Barricade that is and the Barricade that could have been are stark for anyone that knows him… or thinks they know him. Gone is the charming, flirty, irreverent mech; Barricade dispensed with that mask long ago. He no longer hands out pet nicknames or mercilessly teases people when he’s bored. Everyone that made that entertaining for him is long-dead, and even ignoring that he doesn’t have the time or patience for it any more. He has more important things to do, like being a leader. Instead he is what he always was deep down – calculating, ruthless, and uncaring. The only difference is that now he doesn’t care who sees that. He isn’t plagued by a hatred for Soundwave because Soundwave never tormented him… and in fact he’s more than willing to use his own data extraction cables on whoever happens to be convenient.
The loss of all the people he cared for has left him incredibly bitter. There is no chance that he will see them again because as far as he’s concerned, the world doesn’t work like that. He doesn’t see his soldiers as people anymore, but simply as tools. They are something for him to use in whatever goal he happens to be trying to accomplish. He never met Autobots or Primes that he could respect, let alone trust, so anyone carrying the Autobot brand is an enemy and needs to be eradicated. Preferably by someone he can convince into doing it for him; while he may be more accomplished with his long-range weapons now, he has no desire to engage in combat. More notable is his lack of shame and guilt over what he does. Without the social influence of Axiom Nexus, Sacrosanct, or even the Haven, he doesn’t feel a need to keep up social appearances and doesn’t truly realize that he shouldn’t be pleased with coring out someone’s processor. It’s not as though anyone is going to tell him to stop after all. Not unless they want a shotgun slug in the face.
Barricade is not going to know what to make of what he finds in the Haven at all. Who was this imposter on the network, pretending to be him and walking around and – worse – flirting with that Autobot scum that is everywhere? Who are these people claiming the names of mechs he’s known when they aren’t like them at all. Clearly they are all fakes; it’s the only explanation. Getting him on friendly terms will be a trial for anyone that tries, since attempts will be met with suspicion and probably violence. Without his guards he’s going to assume that the majority of people around are threats to him in some way or another, even if they aren’t liars. How well violence will work is up for debate, of course. While he is armed – and will find the other-him’s shotgun and its holster useful – he is still only one mech, stuck in a wheelchair.

Altered Appearance: Barricade is much the same as he normally is, with two major differences. The first is that his face is at appears in canon; he never met TransTech Shockwave so he never had his face altered. Point in fact, the glass of three of his optics are shattered, courtesy of snipers in Chicago. He can still see through them, he just never bothered to replace them. The second is significantly more obvious. His legs were blown off at the knee and remain that way, with Barricade able to get around solely through the use of a wheelchair similar to those used in wheelchair rugby. He has too much pride to allow himself to be carried.

Character name: Blitzwing
Character journal: [personal profile] thermosomatic
Altered History:
The key point in this changed Blitzwing is that he was never reformatted into a Triple Changer.
To get more into detail, Blitzwing was a Decepticon weapons engineer in the early days of the war. He was esteemed for keeping a cool head in almost any situation, although at the sake of being very aloof, but was notoriously vicious when angered. Of course, his occasional chains of puns were enough to cause a headache or two.
He created multiple weapons that served Megatron and the Decepticons well, and served as a chief researcher aboard his warship. However, he had very few experiences in real combat, and thus was partnered with Lugnut for occasions where he had to go onto the field; his creation of an ice cannon eventually made him capable of defending himself.
During the war on Earth, he spent most of his time in the background, working on space bridges and being put in a position of a makeshift doctor. He picked up Cybertronian anatomy rather quickly, learning how to put his comrades back together and, even better, the best ways to take an Autobot apart.
Of course, his inefficiency in combat led to him eventually being captured and taken prisoner, where he was imprisoned along with the other Decepticons that survived the defeat of Megatron.

Altered Personality:
Simply put, he's cold. Anyone who knows him may be surprised at how he doesn't seem to react in the usual way when provoked, although he certainly is capable of raising his voice and punching someone out. He's a bit of a buzzkill, actually; he's capable of puns, sure, but they're few and far between. Working on a code of "strictly business", he brushes away idle conversation and attempts at friendship. Flirting goes completely over his head.
Once he arrives in the Haven, he's immediately going to take his comm apart, see how it works, then put it back together and stumble on footage of the version of him that was here before. He'll probe everything with a scientific curiosity, express a desire to take apart those who claim the same names as Cybertronians from his world, and express a disdain for the "psychopath" that was using his name before.

Altered Appearance:
Not much has changed, except that he only has the features of a jet now; no tank treads, no cannons. He also only has one face, the one taken by his "Icy" personality. However, he has the added addition of a minuscule gap in his teeth, just significantly smaller than the one sported by "Hothead".

Character name: Fracas
Character journal: [personal profile] redshirtrobot
Altered History: Fracas’s life has been profoundly unremarkable, save for one instance. No, not the zombies! Fracas lost an optic in combat, which facilitated a change in his career path that led him to where he has ended up; a mechanic, slowly learning to be independent and an individual while arguing for the rights of Vehicons with others – or trying to explain the lack of Vehicon rights to them. What if his reaction to the loss of his optic led him somewhere entirely different? Point in fact, what if it led him to the Autobots? Following the battle that cost Fracas his optic, he didn’t immediately leave the security division of the Vehicons. Instead he seriously considered his options… and the course of the war. He realized that if he stayed with the Decepticons he was likely to end up dead, whether it was at the Autobots’ hands or those of his own comrades. The next time he was sent into combat he promptly surrendered to the Autobots. After the inevitable extensive grilling to find out he knew zilch, he was tentatively allowed to join the Autobots.
Fracas eventually started proving himself to be useful as a decent mechanic and fair in combat and over the centuries his (rather paranoid and distrusting) squadmates became comfortable enough with the presence of a former Decepticon to allow him a little free reign. He only continued to build his skill from there, and come to the conclusion that Vehicons were just as worthy of freedom and independence as everyone else. He even started making headway in convincing other Vehicons to, if not join the Autobots, then to at least leave the war. Rumors have it that there are scattered colonies of neutral Vehicons on hospitable planets scattered throughout the galaxy… though these are still just rumors, as no one else has ever located them.
Fracas only made it to Earth within the last year, having mostly participated in skirmishes across the galaxy as he tried to find his way to the coordinates that Optimus Prime sent out during the fall of Cybertron. He has never actually worked with Team Prime even so, preferring to find his way to Decepticon mining operations to offer the Vehicons there an alternative to enduring their Decepticon masters until they end up in pieces. It’s done little good in reducing the number of Decepticon troops, but even one less soldier fighting the Autobots can make a difference.

Altered Personality: Fracas originally arrived in Haven as a timid, hyper-polite fellow that has slowly started growing into his own and becoming more and more vocal about his world and his people – for better or for worse. This Fracas has gone through centuries of this growing period already and has become the individual he needed to be, whether he truly wanted to be or not. He is still as polite as he can be, admittedly. That’s just how he’s gotten used to dealing with people. Even so, he’s significantly more comfortable talking to other people, whether they are other Vehicons or other Autobots. He is also much more confident in his abilities, even if he’s not the best at them. He’s much more willing to say “I’ll see what I can do” rather than “I don’t know how much I can help”.
He’s much more hopeful about the future than when he was with the Decepticons. He used to spend much of his time expecting to die, to enemies or friends. Now that his friends don’t shoot at him, he can kind of see a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe he can survive this… and maybe his side can win, too. Sometimes he wakes up from recharge and is still amazed by that feeling. Really, it brightens his day – and mood just a little. It lets him stay a little calmer than he might otherwise be. No terrified shrieking over Starscream or other Decepticon officers.
More to the point, he accidentally took a page from Optimus Prime’s book and makes a concerted effort to convince other Decepticons – or at least other Vehicons – that they would be better off with the Autobots or leaving the war entirely. Making the choice to surrender to the Autobots was an independent and very freeing decision for Fracas, and it went to Fracas’s head a little bit; now he wants to share the ability of choice with those that are trapped the same way he is. He doesn’t let it interfere with combat because he knows that’s a good way to get killed, but outside of combat he’s certainly willing to try to convince Decepticons to abandon Megatron’s grand, insane schemes and fight for the other side.

Altered Appearance: Fracas’s appearance has, in fact, changed… to his current appearance. The only real difference is in the reason for the changes. Rather than in an attempt to disguise himself from Starscream, Fracas made the changes to give the Autobots someone in the air… and so the Autobots wouldn’t accidentally confuse him with his still-purple brethren. The last thing he wants is to be killed by friendly fire. However, he still wears his mask – mostly for intimidation, but also to hide his still-red optic.

OMG could not pass this up! O.O

And um . . . have a link. Because succinct, I am not. Especially not with finally getting to hopefully play a version of TC from a world a friend and I spent /months/ hashing out a while back. So . . . have some TL;DR on his journal because this got too long for a comment. 9,9

Oh, crap, that's right, turning point from /canon/, not completely AU of canon. The major turning point is actually, I guess, Megatron's in a sense - major event: the war was never started and never happened. There's really no one, set, single event...since TC especially doesn't /have/ any set canon history. Well . . . this might not still work, since it also kind of determines histories for G1 Megs and Stars, but since neither are currently in the game and it'd be easy enough to ignore that I'd be somewhat "setting" something in R/A for them if we ever /do/ get either one...let's see if I can still make this work. (And I'm totally cool with it not doing so, if it's still not quite what you're looking for. 9,9)

There's very little canon background for any of the G1 cast, and I think really none for TC. I know other continuities have Megatron starting off as either a gladiator or mining slave or both, but I don't remember what "War Dawn" said G1 Megs did before beginning his revolt. Whatever it was, though, instead of revolting, he entered the military and made his way up the ranks, intending to eventually take control of the military and working his revolution that way. Starscream still went to school, still explored with Skyfire and lost him on Earth, came back and faced whatever consequences there were for that (fanon has a lot of speculation on that, him being put on trial and such), life went on, and Starscream either worked his way up the ranks in Vos, or was elected, or outright took over, but eventually wound up leader of Vos, and trined with Thundercracker and Skywarp . . . until Megatron came along.

Thundercracker himself, his history is really just that he "grew up" in Vos, entered the military, and was a career soldier, met Starscream and impressed him enough to be accepted as his wingmate (all of which is my headcanon for TC anyway, except he didn't meet Starscream until after he joined the Decepticons), and when Starscream became Winglord of Vos, that put him in the position of being a member of the Command Trine (of Vosan army instead of the Decepticon army).

So I guess the single event was Megatron's decision to pursue the military instead of gather some forces and hit the supply depot where Orion Pax was working...?

If that works, awesome! If not...I know it's muddy. G1 history in general is muddy. Either way, let me know! ^__^

Actually...

[personal profile] thankyou4myheart 2013-10-25 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to go ahead and retract TC's event app. ^__^ The more I think about it, the more I know it doesn't /quite/ fit the set-up of the event itself (the turning point is in history, just not TC's personal history 9,9). Plus, I hadn't expected to have Deckard in the game until after applications closed, which meant next month some time. So I think I'll leave TC unaffected for this and just let him react to everyone around him, and concentrate on getting Deckard settled...and LOL break his brain all over again when everyone and everything he was /just/ starting to get the hang of...CHANGES again. XD

Thanks, though! <3

wheeljackofalltrades: (So I might've fucked that up.)

[personal profile] wheeljackofalltrades 2013-10-19 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Character name: Wheeljack
Character journal: [personal profile] wheeljackofalltrades
Altered History:
Back on Cybertron, there was a caste system. Those of the higher castes got more privileges, while the lower ones were, obviously, given less wiggle room in what they wanted to be. Wheeljack, being a mechanic in his ‘real’ universe, was probably on the lower caste, or lower than some. Here, in his alternate universe, he is relatively high up, working with some of the leading scientists of Cybertron’s age. In fact, he was one of the top weapons designers Cybertron had to offer.

Then, Megatronus became Megatron, and rose to power just as normal. When the time came, Wheeljack continued to work in the labs, trying to do whatever he could to make the perfect weapons for the Autobots. He wasn’t adept on the field, so he had to remain there, helping off the field. Eventually, the labs were overtaken by Shockwave, and Wheeljack had to take refuge. He wandered the galaxy aimlessly until Optimus’s homing signal to earth reached him--the same one that was given to Cliffumper and Arcee. It was there that he met Optimus and the crew, rekindling a friendship between Ratchet and himself.

During his two years on Earth, he’s spent tampering with both Cybertronian and human technology, in hopes to take the positive aspects of each to make the ultimate technology, whether it’s help with Fowler being able to wear his suit in his jet, to trying to make the lives of the military easy. Fowler and him still do not get along, although it’s more one-sided than mutual. Wheeljack attempts to impress the agent with his technology, however every demonstration he shows him seems to blow up in his face.

His relationship with Team Prime is better in the beginning parts of the series. They all respect him, somewhat. He gets eyerolls and nicknames like ‘explosion guy’ or something equally as lame. All in all, pretty much G1 Wheeljack put into Prime Universe.

Altered Personality:
Wheeljack in the past has always been that quirky scientist with lots of exploding inventions. The kind of guy who would build a machine, and when it malfunctioned, you’d wave your hand and go “That’s our Wheeljack!” Basically? That’s what he’s going to be now. His default attitude will be mostly upbeat, inquisitve, with an eye for science, thinking of hair-brained schemes off the top of his head. His attitudes towards humans will be just as chipper, and he’ll be more than happy to assist with anything they might need. He’s also going to be slightly more campy, his puns being more face-slap worthy instead of sarcastic and snarky.

He knows nothing of life as a Wrecker, and if asked, he would actually wonder what would make you even come to such a conclusion. Everything about him is science and Autobot. Working side-by-side Ratchet, he’s a lot more upbeat than the medic, optimistic as can be about the entire war. To him, anything’s possible as long as there’s science to be done! Don’t listen to Ratchet, he’s a grump.

That being said, he can be a little...too into his science. This makes him kind of ‘literal’ in the sense that he cannot detect sarcasm well. If you tell him to jump off a cliff, he’s going to calculate the velocity he should do so. Or what would be the BEST way of doing that without getting killed. Granted, this is all when he’s not put to the test and being serious. When the time comes, he can get very competent about what he knows. It’s just he’s got some quirk to go along with it.

Altered Appearance:
-His face mask is going to be over his mouth at all times
-His little ‘ear’ fins light up in a blinking motion similar to G1 Wheeljack
-His swords are no longer part of his weapon lineup.
-Has an Italian-American accent instead of space-cowboy

Character name: Kagerou
Character journal: [personal profile] thxforthememories
Altered History: So way back when the whole BP project was just getting off the ground, there was that incident with Deckerd heroically waking up from his memory being erased and saving Yuuta from an evil robot and it was touching and everyone went on to have good, noble hearts.

Yeah that didn't happen. Part of it did, but instead of being rescued by his robot friend, the boy died in the incident. And no one was the same. Deckerd's "heart" was warped and darkened by the loss of the boy, and, since everyone else's AI was based on his, the "corruption" spread. Which brings us to the Ninjas -- who were still built as prototype and advanced model, still kept on their own, away from others, and all that. They kept their prototype locked in a little closet, until Shadowmaru was built, out of fear he would turn out to be like the other BP models had been. Kagerou really didn't take that too well.

When he was finally released, rather than the care and kindness Kagerou showed his double before, his "heart" had been hardened. He didn't want to be the shadow. Didn't want to be the prototype. He was angry, hateful, even. When he met Shadowmaru, rather than latching onto him, he loathed him, and did everything in his power to reverse their roles. He worked Shadowmaru to the point of collapse, to the point of severe injury, before taking him and personally repairing him, making him utterly dependent on Kagerou. And that his worth was secondary to Kagerou's. Kagerou eventually ran, as he was still slated to be erased, and Shadowmaru still gave chase. They fought, and he ended up killing Shadowmaru in the street. He was the one who joined the Brave Police, not Shadowmaru.

Altered Personality:
This Kagerou radiates confidence. It's in every step he takes, every move he makes. He's loud, obnoxious, violent and dramatic -- all things he's learned will earn him attention he craves. He loathes silence, loathes stillness -- being quiet only when absolutely necessary. The quiet reminds him too much of his beginning, of the locked-in little room, and drives him absolutely mad.

He wants to be noticed, he strives to make his mark on the world more than anything. This drives him, more often than not, to violent outbursts especially in combat. What better to notice and remember you than your enemies? When he killed Shadowmaru, he realized he'd lost the biggest mark he'd made. It snapped some small, sane part of him, and caused him to continually strive for something else to claim as his, something else to make the world remember him by.

He hates being reminded of the other ninja, however, hates being called shadow, or useless, or anything pertaining to his past -- and reacts to such things very violently. He's still like a child, in some respects, but now he's a child who's learned that screaming and striking out will solve your problems. In that same vein, he no longer enjoys his own memories. He tends to lose himself dangerously in them, by virtue of his new habit of throwing himself wholeheartedly into everything he encounters, unable to pull himself back out.

Altered Appearance:
Nothing really of note. A few scrapes and scuffs like "scars", but the rest remains unchanged -- EXCEPT he no longer wears his scanner like an eyepatch. It retracts up into his helmet, exactly like Shadowmaru's did. ... because he stole it off his corpse.

Character name:Knock Out
Character journal: [personal profile] deadlydoctor
Altered History:

Once upon a time Starscream and Knock Out had the brilliant idea of mixing dark Energon with Synthethic energon to create a super soldier. To no one surprise, the plan backfired and they ended with a really creepy, really strong, undead mech that could put alien to shame in a contest about the creepiest tongue ever.

As the zombiapocalypse happened and things went out of hand, havoc broke loose on the nemesis and the number of zombie vehicons increased. Sneaky little things, one of those managed to scar Knock Out’s precious finish and leave more than a simple scratch. He got away alive, in fact he didn’t even notice the scratch or its effects at first.

Like it happened to Airachnid, the zombie infection spread to him as well but he could maintain most of his mental capacities intact. At least until he started to get hungry, which didn’t take long. Soundwave was the first one to notice, not as much because the mech notices everything as it was for the fact that he was next to Knock Out at the time. Knock Out tried to attack him and Soundwave, being the efficient bastard he is, used the same bridge trick he pulled on Airachnid to send Knock Out to the still destroyed Cybertron.

Altered Personality: Personality wise he’s not all that different: cocky, arrogant and sarcastic. However, he would have a hard time dealing with the fact that he now possesses a worrisome thirst for energon that basically makes him a cybertronian vampire.

Knock Out’s going to try to keep it controlled in public and not raise suspicions, seeing what happened when he tried to attack Soundwave, but get more and more thirsty until he starts attacking people. He will most likely go for the acolytes first (who’d care about those?) to try and sooth his needs until they get out of hand again.

Altered Appearance: Nothing to notice at first glance. It’s when he gets violent and/or thirsty that two sides of his jaw split apart at the chin, revealing his new fangs and the really long mechanical tongue.

Character name: Bulkhead
Character journal: [personal profile] neverputincharge

Altered History:

On Cybertron, Bulkhead started life out as just a construction worker, and a lowly lower caste citizen. This part of his history doesn't alter. But in addition to this, he had a side hobby. Things could be pretty dull sometimes in the lower castes, you know. On his off time he started reading the most random of things: Spacebridge manuals. Any he could find, really. Likely thrown out because they were thought to be outdated and useless. Eventually of course, Spacebridge technology became lost to the knowledge of most on Cybertron.

Despite what he knew, Bulkhead kept his knowledge to himself. He was just a lower caste citizen, why would anyone believe that he had it anyway? Much less ask. Things went on as normal, until of course Megatron began his uprising. This is where his hostory truly changes. The original Bulkhead followed his best friend, Wheeljack into the Wreckers and eventually to Team Prime. This Bulkhead had a different best friend: Breakdown. Who he followed into the Decepticons.

He was put to work as one of Megatron's main fighters, since he could take hits due to his size, and with arms could dish out as good as he got, if not better. But while Breakdown split off to work with Knock Out, Bulkhead continued on working under Megatron. Once Megatron found out about Bulkhead's knowledge, after Shockwave was supposedly killed back on Cybertron, he put the big green mech to work, with Starscream and the Vehicons, on building him more spacebridges.

Eventually of course they were led to Earth, and with one Space bridge built, Starscream sent to help find Energon, and so he faced the Autobots on more than one occasion, and eventually he helped build the con's final Spacebridge.

Altered Personality:

The original Bulkhead wasn't the smart of the team, but he was still pretty smart, even more so than he liked to think. He was a big lug, with a big spark, caring, optimisitic and an all around nice guy, with a bit of a dark side, and and a hot temper hidden underneath.

AU Bulk's personality isn't that much different. Only most of his goodness has been beaten down over the centuries by his commanding officers. It's still there, but, a lot like Breakdown in canon, he only really shows that side of him to certain people. Like Vehicons he's worked with, and even Breakdown. There just wasn't any place for a gentle soul under Megatron's command. As a result he can be a little stand offish to new people, coming off as neutral and almost uncaring.

But he's still gentle and caring, even to enemies, and usually won't attack even Autobots unless attacked first, or he's commanded to do it by a higher ranked officer. But while he won't, he still has a distrust and dislike of 'bots. He doesn't trust them, anymore than they trust him. And a save or two isn't going to change that. To top it off, he's not that smart either. And I mean even less smart than his original. The only thing he's any kind of expert at is building Spacebridges, and that's it.

Except not, as not only is he not smart, he's destructive. Even when he doesn't mean to be. While the original was known for breaking things, usually on accident. AU!Bulkhead is about ten times worse. Picture like his Animated self in a fight, and you pretty much have it. In battle, he does more harm than that, which was likely only encouraged by the cons.

Altered Appearance:

He doesn't look that much different physical wise. Only maybe a little more Bulky. Of course the obvious things will be his yellow optics and the black Autobot logos on his arms will be replaced by black Decepticon logos. He still retains his mace/canon balls and his built-in blasters.

Also his alt-mode will be changed, from the SUV/Truck he usually has, to one more resembling what Breakdown had, some kind of armored truck thing.

Character name: Blackarachnia
Character journal: [personal profile] treacherous_widow
Altered History:
Blackarachnia's past as changed quite a bit. Instead of being brought online and reprogrammed as a Predacon, she's brought online as a Maximal and joined their ranks. From there she served as the groups spy and helped Rhinox keep the base running. A lot of her time she spent trying to steal parts and other needed things from the Predacons to help keep the Axalon running. Of course, she became very good at this and on one of her little 'missions', she stumbled across something strange.

She managed to sneak aboard the Darksyde and hack into Megatron's personal files to see exactly why the purple saurian had been so quiet lately. There she found the access codes for the ARK. She wasn't too sure how or even what they were so she stole them just in case and erased Megatron's copy with a well placed virus that caused havoc with their ship's systems for weeks to come.

As she was escaping, she tripped one of Tarantula's alarm systems and quickly got caught by the other spider. She tried to get away and nearly did before he managed to paralyze her with his venom.

Blackarachnia didn't know how long she was out, only that when she came to, she was strapped down in Tarantula's lab and there was an alien attack on the planet. From there, things were a blur for sometime. What she does remember is pain. Excruciating pain from Tarantulas forcibly rooting through her circuits to retrieve the missing activation codes from the Ark. [Meanwhile, Optimus Primal saved everyone by blowing up the alien artifact trying to destroy the planet and then Rhinox retrieved his spark.]

Once he was done, he left her for the Maximals to find, battered and barely online and with a little surprise. After Blackarachnia was repaired, she came to realize there was something wrong. Tarantulas had used his time messing with her mind to forge a mental link with the she-spider. Blackarachnia was forced to become a Predacon spy and couldn't tell her fellow Maximals. For awhile she resisted, fighting him every step of the way. At times she managed to act out against her team mates, hoping they would get the hint that something was wrong. At first they figured she was still recovering from her ordeal at the hands of the Predacons and didn't think much of it.

It wasn't until Silverbolt joined the group that things started to get a little out of hand. Tarantulas forced her to try and destroy the Axalon. Thankfully Silverbolt saved her from succeeding and forced Primal and Rhinox to take a closer look. They discovered the tampering and managed to sever the link.. by exposing her to massive amounts of unstable Energon and nearly killing her in the process.

She managed to survive and pull through, though now not with out some mental damage. For awhile she refused to leave the base and only ever talked to Sliverbolt, Airazor and Rhinox. The she spider avoided Rattrap who didn't seem to want her around after the spying was discovered and Dinobot who she never really got along with. Otherwise, she simply avoided everyone else.

Eventually she started to come around with help from Sliverbolt who seemed to always be there for her. Eventually, she started to act like her old self though she still refused to speak to most bots. It was about this time she finally managed to share Megatron's plans about the ARK with Optimus Primal.

Immediately they set off to locate and protect the relic. They even managed to get there before Megatron and set up defenses. Megatron was furious and mounted several attacks. But, with Blackarachnia controlling the defenses the Predacon's couldn't get near the relic.

Not until Rampage joined their ranks. His firepower was overwhelming the Maximals at every turn and it was only just barely they managed to keep the place protected. By this time Blackarachnia was never seen outside the Ark. She was constantly linked into the Arks systems and trying to keep everything stable while everyone else tried to keep the place defended.

Then one battle the Predacon's tried a new trick. They caused a massive feedback in the system's defenses that went straight to Blackarachnia. She screamed as it felt like she was being burned from the inside out and lost consciousness for some time. When she came to, she remembers seeing Silverbolt as he held her and kept saying something she couldn't hear. Blackarachnia felt herself start to go offline and managed to confess her feelings to Silverbolt before she died.

Altered Personality:
Blackarachnia's personality has taken a dramatic shift with her AU! History. Before Blackarachnia was dangerous, confidant and every ounce of a femme fatale ready to both kiss and kill her intended target with intelligence to spare. Now? Blackarachnia is more withdrawn and quiet. This is something that every bot that knows her might just do a double take on.

She does more observing than talking and when she does say something, it's important. The she-spider is still very intelligent and she chooses to silently display her intelligence with inventions or creating programs to do something helpful to others. Even so, she is still very skilled at getting around unnoticed.

However, the biggest change would be in her confidence and motivation. Blackarachnia lacks the confidence she once had and sometimes second guesses herself, making mistakes that would have been easily avoided. As for her motivation, it's less about her survival and more about everyone else to the point where she died trying to protect others.

Like before, she still loves Silverbolt and he's still a very large factor in her life. Only now Blackarachnia is more reliant on the other bot, or she was before she died. He was her rock during the hard times and the one bot she trusted completely after her ordeal at the claws of Tarantulas. Which leads her into being very quiet around others unless she trusts them to some degree.

Altered Appearance: (
Nothing really changes about Blackarachnia's appearance. She's still a black and gold she-spider with a Blackwidow beast mode. The only real thing to note the change of is her faction symbol. Instead of being the Predacon symbol, it's now the Maximal symbol.
wherenobotsgone: (R - Looking up)

[personal profile] wherenobotsgone 2013-10-20 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Character name: Skyfire
Character journal: [personal profile] wherenobotsgone
Altered History: The key change in Skyfire's history is that he didn't crash on Earth. He and Starscream decided that the storm was too dangerous to try to approach the planet, leaving it unexplored. Skyfire was able to return to Cybertron and continue with his work as a scientist and explorer for some time, at least as long as the planet was still at peace.

However, as time passed and Cybertronians became more and more divided, this also affected his personal life. Starscream's ambitions led him to become closer to the Decepticons, which caused a rift in their friendship. By the time Starscream joined them, Skyfire felt that he could no longer in good conscience consider him a friend. It was Skyfire's choice to break all contact, something that Starscream considered a betrayal on his part. For some time afterwards, Skyfire still considered himself a civilian, but it eventually became clear to him that were would be no place for neutrality in this conflict. It was then that he decided to join the Autobots and became part of their science team.

Given Skyfire's altmode and his previous experience as an explorer, when the energon crisis became a problem he was one of the first to leave Cybertron in search of better energy resources. It wasn't successful and he returned, so he was in the Ark with everyone else when they crashed on Earth - and when they awoke from stasis. His role after that wasn't very different from what he does in canon after they find him: being the largest Autobot and also flight-capable, he was still stuck with a lot of carrying others around.

Altered Personality: This is a version of Skyfire who has lived through the war, instead of just hearing about it. He isn't bitter, because that's simply not his nature, but he's much less naive. He's still good-natured, and mostly optimistic, however there is more realism in his outlook. Although he can't help but hope Cybertron will eventually find peace again, he's quite aware that this is nearly impossible. This hasn't made him cynical, though, and he's chosen to focus on making the best of things as they are and trying to help in whatever why he can.

He's also much more used to fighting. He doesn't enjoy it, and he helps from the laboratory instead whenever he has a say in it. Still, he knows he makes a difference in the battlefield, so he had no choice but to become more of a soldier. After all this time, he doesn't have the luxury to be reluctant, either. It's simply what needs to be done.

Another difference is that he doesn't have to deal with the feeling of being out of place. This Skyfire has spent a very long time as part of the same team, and the time he lost in the crash was the same as for everyone else, which means he doesn't have to deal with a sudden change in his worldview. This makes him more confident by removing the "fish out of water" factor.

Altered Appearance: He looks pretty much the same. The only real change is that his built-in weapons system is now more fit for war than for self-defence and exploring, but this isn't really something that would show in his appearance.

Mirage's is so lame /hands to face

[personal profile] perfavore 2013-10-20 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Character name: Mirage
Character journal: [personal profile] perfavore
Altered History:
As far as events go, most of Mirage’s history remains the same. The major parts of the war before his arrival to Earth happened as they normally would. For Mirage, it’s his attitude towards his team, aesthetical difference and his role that actually changed. Instead of being a Stealth Ops, he’s pretty much one step away from Wrecker. So where does the name ‘Mirage’ come from? Good question, it doesn’t! It’s Dino now! Yep. And this means no cloaking device.

He arrives on Earth in (you guessed it) Texas, and instead of picking up on Italian culture, he looks at the architecture of some of the monuments found there, doing some (Really bad) research using the world wide web. This is why he’s so ...uh...him. He did not arrive with Que, as he did in the original story, and thus, never considered him a mentor figure, nor close to him.

From his arrival to earth to where DotM starts, nothing has really changed. He considers himself Sideswipe’s friend, although whether that is mutual or not is...up to who you talk to. Basically, the only part that’s different is what the Autobots have to put up with.

Altered Personality:
As far as personality goes, Mirage is much less ‘suave’ (as suave as he was, at least) than his red counterpart. Instead of the Italian accent, he now sports a Clint Eastwood-esque voice, complete with a slight Texan vibe. With this comes a more gung-ho, extremely hyped up attitude. Basically, a ‘yee-haw’, trigger happy jock who likes chest bumps and manly things.

He’s just as flirtatious as his previous self, however the method couldn’t be any more different. Instead of using Italian to charm people, he’ll use a drink and some fancy words. He’s a little stereotypical, as if every American stereotype of macho was shoved into one robot. Sometimes he’ll even name drop some brand names from Earth. Who knows.

In battle, he’ll be spouting one liners like no tomorrow. Seriously, every other thing he’d say is one. He can also be overconfident (moreso than his usual self), and will focus more on getting in on the action rather than playing it smart and using his field to his advantage. A stealth ops specialist, he is not. He even tends to flirt with the Decepticons, albeit it’s more to insult them than to actually praise.

Altered Appearance:
-He speaks with Clint Eastwood as his voice now. Ironhide would love him.
-He is now a bright shade of blue. Think Robin’s egg blue.
-He’s now a Plymouth Barracuda, complete with tailfins.
-His main weapons are now two guns in his arms, designed to fire like six shooters.
-I know this seems over the top, and it is. Sadly, this all works in the world because Michael Bay

Character name: Tarn
Character journal: [personal profile] songofmypeople

Altered History: Same highly advanced robot society on Cybertron that has made contact with a plethora of other alien species (Not Earth yet) except there's no Optimus Prime, no Megatron, and if the government is corrupt it's the sort of thing you'll hear about in the robo-papers and not a big enough deal to start a civil war over. In fact, there's been very little conflict in this society and insofar as "Autobot" and "Decepticon" go, those are fairytale terms as far as Tarn is concerned and the Autobot/Decepticon emblems don't even exist.

If you want to spark conflict though, go ahead and try to start some religious discourse (which is impolite in most circles anyway). Primus and his little duckling First Forged are from the old outmoded religion. The new age one Tarn subscribes to salutes the super fabulous and entirely perfect almighty Mme Jackling. Don't say those words though, it's impolite to use a god's name in vain after all. That religion started as a crazy cultist society but over the years grew into something legitimately acknowledged. Now they've even got robot-Sunday schools (Something Tarn teaches). [Tarn's take on his religion however, remains a little unconventional compared to his peers'.]

Additional note: "Tarn" isn't a city/state/location at all. For the record Tarn was sparked and grew up in the quaint little village of Canadarr.

Altered Personality:
Everything about Tarn's personality and behaviours remain the same, just not his motivations or what he's trying to aquire.
- Instead of being addicted to transforming, he's addicted to interfacing and also activities that are directly analogous to "sex".
- Instead of being obsessed with the Decepticon doctrine, it's (his take on) religion he's crazy about.
- Instead of using violence to scare people into staying in line, he believes the application of pain and/or orgasms (or their equivalent) brings people closer to the divine.
- Instead of spreading Decepticon conquest all over the universe, Tarn would much rather have new and exciting sexual encounters with the rest of the universe and thereby also bring them closer to religious esctascy.
- He still has a list but it's not made of names so much as kinks he's just thought of and really needs to give a try!
- The shape of his mask doesn't MEAN anything and there were tons of similar ones in different colours at robo-Walmart.
- He's still super cultured with interests in music, literature, education, language, etc but the subject matter is all about religion this time.
- Instead of being easily distracted, his groan-worthy handicap are now his pick-up lines
- The voice doesn't TORTURE sparks (unless you're into that) so much as... "torture" them. (By which I mean hello robot orgamsm)
- HE'S STILL A TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, PERSON. Instead of noncon torture to death you just get straight up noncon if he's feeling like it ---> yes I will have a permissions page [no I don't foresee that aspect of his hobbies being put to much use]

Altered Appearance: No change except for colour schemes: yellow eyes, sky blue mask and detailing, brown body. Oh yes, he also has Dominus Ambus's face under that mask, but it is flesh coloured. He is NOT however, aware of who "Ambus" might be, because his name is Tarn.
He's still a tank and is definitely a phase-sixer. (From his reality they call that the 69th tier. It's pretty much final boss level stats.)

You know, I think I misunderstand what "AU" actually means. Hahaha. Thinking about it, I'm considering saying the turning point was the lack of Megatron, Optimus Prime, and the fact that the senate wasn't corrupt enough to be worth inciting civil action on any front. And then most things just rolled from there.

But if "AU" for the sake of Re/a's event means the existing character needs to be changed only insofar as being the product of a single change in existing canon history... I do not think my version fits the bill. I don't really have time to change it up, so if it doesn't fit that's A-ok, and I'll just take a pass on the event!

[personal profile] stabbywheelfeet 2013-10-20 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Character name: Sideswipe
Character journal: [personal profile] stabbywheelfeet
Altered History:
Everything went as normal. He was still built as a hotshot young soldier, still convinced he was the best and brightest, and still given over to Ironhide to train. He went on to be the colony's protector at a very young age, and Demolishor still turned it onto a pile of rubble. He abandoned Ironhide, and went on his crusade against Demolishor, just like before.

Buenos Aires however, went down a lot differently. Though Ironhide did make it to Argentina, and tried to reason with him outside Montenegro, he was waylaid before actually reaching Buenos Aires. Where Sideswipe was going up against Demolishor, and where the local military was preparing to launch an attack against him. The air strike succeeded in taking Sideswipe out of the fight, but also allowed Demolishor to get away. Sideswipe remained utterly obsessed with killing the Decepticon. He continued to chase him, blatantly ignoring multiple attempts by the Autobots to stop, to stand down. He became one of NEST's most wanted, as a result, and when they crossed paths again in Shanghai, one unit actually opened fire on him.

The injuries sustained in the skirmish with the NEST forces kept him from his ultimate goal, finally killing Demolishor. Optimus Prime and Ironhide killed the punkass Decepticon, and Sideswipe nearly snapped. They'd taken his vengeance from him, and he was done.

He left them only after perfunctory repairs were complete, breaking out of confinement, and abandoning the Autobots altogether. Completely disillusioned with his comrades, he went on his own crusade, killing Decepticons his way, and staying far out of reach of his old team. He kept no more close ties with any of them, even his old teacher.

Altered Personality:
He's disillusioned, bitter, and angry. The Autobots are no longer a source of pride, but thieves, soldiers with no honor. He views them as he does humanity -- useless. Probably one of the biggest changes is the way he views Ironhide. Instead of looking at him as family, as a father figure, he kept the same attitude he had when they were first reunited -- the other soldier is out of date, too old to be useful, too set in his ways. He's angry with him, as well. He'd trusted him still, and yet Ironhide took his vengeance away.

Optimus too, is included in this feeling of betrayal.

With his faith in the Autobots so shaken, so destroyed, there's not really room for much else in his mind, except his new mission. He'll kill the Decepticons before the others can. He'll show them how it feels. Not much else matters to him, aside from taking out his enemies -- not his appearance, not boasting, and certainly not camaraderie. He's become mistrustful, suspicious, and utterly out for himself. He's the only one who's never let himself down, after all.

His hatred for the Decepticons remains unchanged, save that, if anything, it's become stronger as a result of hunting them.

Altered Appearance:
+ Copious amounts of scarring, comparable to Ironhide.
+ Paint is significantly less shiny, much more matte grey than silver. Like primer grey.
+ He basically looks like he doesn't care about how he looks any longer.
angleofscience: (Autobrand - true allegiance)

[personal profile] angleofscience 2013-10-20 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Character name: Jetfire
Character journal: [personal profile] angleofscience

Altered History: The first and since everything else goes from there, most defining point that changed was that Jetfire never left. The thought to leave the Decepticons never came up at all, despite the growing uneasiness with how things were evolving - partly because he still thought being where he was might give more possibility for the research he wanted to do, and partly because the Decepticons was where Starscream was.
When the factions broke up into smaller ones after Megatron and Optimus disappeared, Jetfire went with Starscream and his Predacons, if nothing else because it was something familiar. This, of course, meant the Autobots didn't find out about Trypticon until the battle station-size Decepticon was wandering over the bridge between Nova Cronum and Iacon, but they rallied to stop it. In the meantime, Jetfire had still noticed the escalating pattern, and while he was considering asking the Autobots for some infrmation to corroborate with his own findings, he went to Shockwave first (relatively easier) - and so Bludgeon and his group still had a message to relay to lure out Grimlock, because that incident still happened. The group had a bit more issue actually subduing Jetfire, because while he was still reluctant to take to attacking them, he did use his weaponry to keep them at bay, which meant Grimlock ended up attacking in the middle of it... still necessitating the Fallen to come out and put his foot down.
The Autobots got involved in the whole thing via the Dinobots (the others had still split from Grimlock) and Trypticon leaving the battle for "no reason".
The confrontation ended with Jetfire somehow managing to convince Grimlock to take the other three out and basically playing keep-away with the Fallen to keep him occupied while he tried to come up with a solution - which he didn't have to, as "something" burst out of the Well, smacked the Fallen but good, and then resealed the Well again. The whole thing left Jetfire researching whatever he could find in regards to the Fallen and what Bludgeon and his crew had been involved in, all the while insisting he'd been blinded, which lead to a deep knowledge of those very same "dark arts" Bludgeon had been dabbling in. Jetfire's position was to find the connection of how it all was connected, because somehow it had to make scientific sence, right? This helped him to push that constant feeling of dicscontent and confusion away in regards to what he was even doing - especially as the Autobots began to win more and more ground again, when Ultra Magnus came back. It came to a temporary head with Starscream's attempt at blowing up the peace conference and Jetfire, who would have been playing back-up for Starscream during his attack on the Council, came back to Megatron being back, having taken everything over and punishing Starscream for his "transgression" of killing the Council.

He managed to get into the position of helping Shockwave figuring out the clones of the Aerospace Extermination Squadron and when Rumble and Frenzy were playing their "game" of naming dead Autobots while he looked to the eqipment, nearly got injured in the first explosion right when the cassettes came to "Grimlock" and he told them to shut up and when Grimlock later started wandering around in the clone of the Aerospare Extermination Squadron soldier he was possessing, the lab nearly got trashed from Grimlock not being able to keep from attacking the air guardian - but when he left Jetfire used the mess and confusion he left behind to get to where Starscream was kept in time to help him out of the destroyed tank. That little incident was enough to "settle" Jetfire's misgivings again, even if he'd not been particularly happy about the whole internment camps and forced labour Megatron had put the Autobots to, but the dwindling energon resources soon made his doubts and frustration crop up again... and then the whole Ark and Nemesis missions happened, with Starscream having Jetfire remain on Cybertron to "keep an optic on Shockwave". Thus, Jetfire actually ended up being on Skystalker's mission to spread Decepticon influence much, much later, and that is when the (possibly) last break happened, as Skystalker's razing of Paradron, somehow, turned into the last breaking point.
By that point Starscream and the Nemesis had been gone for a good while, Cybertron's energon was dangerously low, and Jetfire's tolerance for methods that still didn't give him what he thought he wanted had been driven into the bottom. Leaving Skystalker and his mission, Jetfire slowly set to working himself back towards Cybertron... maybe. The slow progress as he had to stop often where he could get energon and being alone forced Jetfire to finally own up to a few things he'd not thought about; mostly the fact that he'd apparently made a monumental mistake in regards to his choices. Without Starscream there to distract him and act as a focal anchor to his reason to stay, and even with the changes to his methods and attitudes, it still was clear to him that he didn't agree with how things were going... and how would going back to Cybertron solve that? How did you even change factions after all this time?
So Jetfire ended up alternately drifting through space, periodically in suspended animation and periodically searching for energon - and vaguely after the Nemesis and Starscream as well, even if he at this point wasn't even sure he wanted to find them. And then, much later, he picked up a truly massive somewhat Decepticon-like energy signal.. worth looking up, wasn't it?

Altered Personality: Jetfire has ended up far less open, more short-tempered than he would have been. Mostly because he's nearly constantly frustrated and unsettled, without knowing precisely why. And then after his extended stay in space and realisation of what and where he did wrong, his mood doesn't get much better - he should have been able to see where things were going and fix it. No matter what it might have done with his relationship (as it is) with Starscream.

Talking of the Seeker, he's much more accepting of Starscream's... actions, being nearly unquestioning to them (while constantly turning those actions and his own actions and decisions over in his processor, but to what reason, he doesn't really know, and when he does know, mostly puts himself at responsibility for his own actions - Starscream's are his own). Before the Nemesis and the Ark left Cybertron, usually shadowed Starscream whenever he wasn't in a lab - it usually kept any protests at bay to Starscream's face (since, especially during Starscream leading the Predacons, this meant he had both Jetfire and Motormaster as deterrents), considering how large Jetfire is and the fact that he was pretty well-armed.

His ethics and morals when it comes to science and the application thereof has been softened greatly; if something is to be gained, he can go to great lengths to get it. He does, however, tend to keep from experimenting on people who are still alive and aware or do things that would be directly detrimental to them, if he doesn't know it might be helpful - which is why he does a lot of experimenting and upgrading on himself, which has actually left him with a few issues like strange energy surges or weapons malfunctioning sometimes. On the other hand, if he's done it to himself and it's worked, why are you complaining?
He's not an atheist anymore - but neither is he really a believer of Primus and perhaps he's in a way a strange version of a very staunch believer of atechnogenesis... it's just that you can do nearly anything through the right application of the right sort of energy (the dark sciences, for example). Compared to his beliefs andThere's not much difference in his tendency to take to violence; when it's needed, he does it, and swiftly, but he doesn't enjoy it and prefer to find other ways of dealing with things - he's just a lot more well-armed.
Altered Appearance: Prior to his altmode change, Jetfire had quickly exchanged the mask/visor for a removable helmet as it added more protection (and weaponry, what with the gun-antennae), plus added guns set into the nosecone array on his right arm, and a missile launcher on the left - and guns in his legs.
With the change in altmode to what he has at present, which is a result of reworking and upgrading himself (pretty much what happened in actual reality), the removable double-barrled guns housings aren't removable, and the red boosters on his lower legs, again, carry extra guns. The extra set of boosters that attach to the base set also carry a rocket launcher on each booster attachment (similar to the guns on the Classics/Henkei toy). He also tends to always keep his helmet on - and of course there's (so far) a Decepticon insignia in place of the Autobot one.

Character name: Megatron
Character journal: [personal profile] megaton
Altered History:
Megatron's history alters at a tiny, key moment in a jail cell.

After captured by the Rodion Police force for a disturbance in MacCadams's Bar (wherin Impactor proceeded to beat up a few cops for harassing a familiar psychiatrist), Megaton spent an uncomfortable night in a cell. Already agast by the way prisoners were treated, his terror culminated in an appearance by Whirl--ready to pay him back for the injuries inflicted on his 'friends.' However, instead of remaining silent at this junture, Megatron spoke out...questioning if those cops were really Whirl's friends. Angered by what hit too close to home, Whirl punched Megatron...

And then left, instead of continuing the beating. This led Megatron to really think about what was going on in the Rodion police department, considering the levels of corruption and how they were affecting EVERYONE--not just the lower class. More convicted than ever that a change needed to happen, and ALSO more convinced than ever at the power of words (since those had been what saved him from Whirl), Megatron decided that his writing needed to continue. Once released from prison, it was what he threw himself into--seeking out Cybertronians to interview when he isn't working the mines, researching senate contact protocols, and coming up with a NEW system, entirely.

Because not every Cybertronian had access to the periodicals he wrote, he also began recording speeches. His words were broadcast from several underground radio stations, spreading his ideals like wildfire. Always, he advocated a peaceful solution: gentle, gradual reforms that took place legally.

Nevertheless, this generated conflict. It drew lines within government institutions, and it drew lines between functionists and non-functionists. There were several attempts on Megatron's life, and several attempts to remove him from Cybertron. At one point, he was even outcast--banished from the capital for 'disturbing the peace' during one of his rallies. He found his way back, however--and each setback only made him more sure. This change NEEDED to happen. The voices of others like him needed to be heard.

In this manner, he rose to be a great political figure himself--mediating disputes, finding ways through bureacratic loopholes, advocating changes in the system one law at a time. No longer was the war for Cybertron 'Decepticons VS Autobots,' -- it became 'Reformists vs Conventionists', robots who wanted an upheaval vs robots who wanted things to stay the same. There were champions on all sides--Orion Pax, who spoke for Senator Shockwave and gave a voice against the corruption. Starscream, who infiltrated various levels of government and exposed the crimes of officials. Senator Ratbat, who explained the cost-breakdown of expenditures and detailed why Megatron's plan would not work. Pro and Con.

The Wreckers were, notably, still formed by Impactor. However, instead of being a crack team of Autobot warriors, they were bodyguards and construction workers...accompanying Megatron to political rallies and performing both set up, tear down, and protection services. Impactor's crowd and the would-have-been-Constructicons both worked to keep things civil (or to bash a few heads in when it was not.)

It is from the early days of this political struggle that Megatron remembers being torn from his reality, and deposited here in Re-Aligned. He's just accomplished his first major victory--getting the council to agree to a vote for new representatives of Kaon based off of living zones instead of class.

Altered Personality:
To sum it up in one word, Megatron is passionate. He believes very strongly in the cause he's championing, and wants to gain support for it with mechs of all types and backgrounds. When speaking with him, its unlikely that the Reformist's agenda WOULDN'T come up at least once...though he's hesitant to push anyone into something they are not comfortable with. The idea of his movement is, after all, for Cybertronians to have a CHOICE.

He's spent a lot of time researching tactics to combat the political movements of the Senate, as well, which makes him incredibly well-read for a mining-class tank. His vocabulary was always large, but as time has gone on he's become increasingly focused on chosing the exact right word to make an impact with his audience. It's extremely effective, although that might be helped by his own natural charisma. He's not afraid to speak in front of an audience, and it helps that he's gone through a lot of the same travesties that his listeners have gone through. In other words--he's incredibly sympathetic to the plight of his fellow Cybertronians, and it shows.

He's still a bit rough around the edges, however. He's been doing work with his hands for his whole life, and has always socialized with fellow miners and heavy laborers. He can be prone to an aggressive streak--it is part of his nature--but he's been trying to tone it down. This leaves the impression of a mech with a lot of volatile emotions that are carefully bottled away, sealed and ready to use only as a weapon when in an intense debate.

Most notably, he is NON-VIOLENT. Despite his roughness and his passion, he believes firmly in finding a PEACEFUL solution to the problems on Cybertron. The thing that wounds him the most is when mechs get hurt fighting for his cause, and he would sooner take on damage himself than ask anyone else to risk it for him. His job as an advocate IS dangerous--he's had to fend off more than one assassination attempt--but this just confirms to him he's on the right track. Words will be what wins the battle for him. He hates it, utterly, when anyone fights in any other way.

Altered Appearance: Notably, Megatron does not contain any of the Arena modifications that were made on him. He still has heavy armor by nature (since he is a tank), but otherwise he is wearing his mining stripes and has no weapons integrated. He does have a small symbol--a pickaxe--on his right shoulder, which is the label he's chosen to mark him as a Reformist.

Character name: Ambulon
Character journal: [personal profile] rstlsslegsyndrm
Altered History: Of what little we do know of Ambulon's past, he abandoned/defected the Decepticons to escape a gestalt/combiner experiment. Though he did not escape unharmed, naturally, since he was still rebuilt into a leg. However, he spent the next ten years AWOL before joining the Autobots and working at Delphi.

Well, it all changes starting after the transformation into a combiner unit. Instead of fear or whatever motivates him to abandon the experiment and defect, Ambulon embraces it. It's a system shock, at first, and mentally, it's left him a little off-kilter. Nonetheless, he goes along for the ride, and in the process, whatever good inside Ambulon starts to die and wither into something bitter. Something more maniacal, until he LOVES this lifestyle. Woo, homicidal Decepticon, woo!

Except, after the war, Ambulon's teammates suddenly want to STOP, and just agree to go down quietly. War's over, right? No use fighting. Ambulon, of course, is enraged by how weak his teammates have gotten. As they turn their backs on him and everything they've lived for, Ambulon contacts a very infamous, notorious group of Decepticons - the DJD. Yeah, see, he's got a little info on a couple deserters...

The response is almost instantaneous. Ambulon's former team is killed. And, recognizing the potential, Tarn offers Ambulon a job: supply him with t-cogs as his dealer. So, why not, Ambulon figures. And Tarn points him to Delphi.

Thus, everything changes. Pharma is not responsible for the Red Rust. When he accuses Ambulon, whoops. Turns out he WAS right: Ambulon IS the culprit. Though he did attempt to escape with the antidote - to no avail, however. Ratchet and Drift eventually caught up with him, and he was taken aboard the Lost Light to spend his years stuck in their brig as a prisoner.

Altered Personality: Ambulon is considered a no-nonsense, stoic character in the comic, but he is empathetic and speaks his mind. Still no nonsense, and still speaks his mind, this altered Ambulon switches out empathy/understanding with sadism/cruelty. Bitter and cruel, Ambulon can be stoic from time to time, but he's also known to occasionally snap and go apeshit. Though not too often. His hatred for the Autobots and Decepticon traitors is immense; he will attack them on sight with little to no consideration. Though still a medic, he's fond of using his medical skills for torture. Ambulon loves loves LOVES being a leg, and yearns to have that life back, but alas. Stupid team. >=C Basically, cynical, crazy, vain, and just a big ole dick all around.

Altered Appearance: Nothing has changed except he still wears his former colors--purple and blue. Vivid and proud, so no scratches or peels. There's a Decepticon insignia on his chest. It was really hard not to put it on his right kneecap, buuuut...

Character name: Chromedome Tumbler
Character journal: [personal profile] needlefingers
Altered History:

As far as Tumbler is concerned, he got away from Cybertron just before the war started. He escaped with Prowl to the far edges of the galaxy where he's been living for the entirety of the war. That doesn't mean that he's never seen battle though, the universe is a dangerous place. While he's not as efficient as a fighter as Chromedome is, he still learned enough to help protect his fellow NAILs. Tumbler has worked in law enforcement for most of his life, and is actually kind of happy with the work he’s done.

Since Tumbler had gotten away in time with Prowl, he never caught Zeta Prime's attention, and as a result Tumbler had never learned how to do mnemosurgery. Oh sure he still had a vague interest in it, but out there he never really got the chance to learn it. Obviously this means that he never went to Kimia, and that he hadn't seen Brainstorm in a very, very long time. Tumbler was apart from the war, so he never met Mach, Pivot, Scattergun, or Rewind, and instead developed his relationship further with Prowl, making him his Conjunx Endura. They’ve been together for the whole duration of the war and Prowl is the most important person in Tumbler’s life.

The war ended and it was time to return to their home. At first Tumbler was reluctant to leave, but was eventually convinced to go. He was on his way to return to Cybertron when he ended up in the Haven.

Altered Personality:

Tumbler is… happy. Or as happy as one can be while knowing that their planet is dead. Still, having not taken an active part of the war, Tumbler has very little reason to feel guilty or angry as his Chromedome counterpart. His conscience is relatively free, and he’s definitely not as much of a tool. Not being constantly manipulated is fun and leads to a happier, healthier person. Unlike Chromedome, Tumbler’s moral compass isn’t quite so fluid. He knows what’s right and wrong, and he won’t compromise it for any reason. Generally, you won’t find Tumbler sulking in a corner over something, that’s just childish.

The dry, snarky sense of humour that Chromedome is known for is present in Tumbler as well. The difference is that his humour isn’t nearly as bitter and world-weary. Life sucks from time to time, but sometimes you just have to deal with it. Instead of just acting like he’s a good-natured bot, he actually is one. Tumbler is known for his optimistic and upbeat personality. At the same time though, Tumbler still doesn’t do that well on his own, as he tends to make really bad decisions when left unattended. Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time?

Tumbler believes in remembering things. Nothing stays the same, and he takes it upon himself to remember them in any way, shape, or form. This leads him to collecting lots of memorabilia that he keeps in the house he shares with Prowl. He doesn’t bother trying to be neat about it though, so he generally puts things wherever it looks like it fits. When it comes to his view on the war, Tumbler fully blames the Autobots and the Decepticons for killing off a good portion of their race, and for the destruction of their precious homeworld.

Altered Appearance: Chromedome pretty much looks the same as he does now, except he doesn’t have needles on his hands.
flashdrive: (Actually firing a gun)

[personal profile] flashdrive 2013-10-21 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Character name: Rewind
Character journal: [personal profile] flashdrive
Altered History:
Basically, everything that happened, Dominus trying to get rights for the Disposables, Rewind idolizing him and working with him...all of that happened. The only difference is that Dominus never disappeared, and Rewind decided to actually follow the crowd and get a new Alt mode in the process. He and Dominus worked fairly close together, Rewind acting as an archivist (still retaining his ability to hold a lot of information.

What was his new alt mode? Dominus suggested something robust, like him. It was then that he became a super space tank. This made for traveling with Dominus easier, and all the extra armor would protect him from anyone hoping to stop the little archivist for any reason. In fact, it’s probably for the best, with the war being over and Cybertron having to restore itself. Someone has to have this documented for the future.

This means that he never went on a search for Dominus, never met Chromedome, and in turn, never became his Conjunx Endura. The only one he could see that happening with is...well, the obvious. But even Rewind’s not ready to take that step just yet. It seems like something’s holding him back, even if there’s no reason for it too.

Now if only he could figure out what it was…

Altered Personality:
Rewind’s personality as a whole is pretty much the same. He’s still his confident, proud, slightly sassy self, with an eye for recording. He’s not quite as obsessive in cataloging everything into his database as before, seeing as he’s not exactly looking for Dominus. His search for knowledge is just his hobby now, not an obsession.

As far as relationship status, he’s a free bird, taking pride in his work and work alone. Nothing’s holding him down, as he didn’t need anyone since Dominus is the one who’s (was) his main contact and the reason he’s doing this research.

Let’s just say he MAY have a little crush on him. Maybe.

Altered Appearance:
Basically, Rewind’s still the same size as he always was. The only difference is he now turns into a tank instead of a memory stick. Slightly bulkier, slightly faster, but all the same sass.

Character name: Crow T Robot

Character journal: [personal profile] uknowuwantmebaby

Altered History: Joel was still launched into space as an experiment to watch bad movies, Joel still made robots to keep him company. However, sometime well into the first movie an accident occurred. The robot known as Crow had fell into the air hatch leading into the dark void of space. Sure, for an organic, fleshy thing the combined subzero temperatures, lack of air, and radiation would mean instant death. But thanks for a bag of popcorn that Tom had strapped to him in a childish prank Crow managed to keep his circuits insulated. However, as he drifted closer to the sun, the popcorn began to meld with his circuitry. The combined heat and popcorn leakage twisted both his body and his mind. Gone was the one called Crow. Now was born the creature called Timmy. Eventually Crow had stumbled upon the very same wormhole which Pearl Forrester in the future would discover. However, this wormhole lead him to a different time: the Satellite of Love, three seasons later. Only in this one Crow had not been jettisoned out the void. This time anomaly had led to a complete breakdown and an urge to take the place of the other Crow. Insinuating himself as Crow's new friend, Timmy had nearly eliminated the entire crew before Joel had released him back into the dark void of space from whence he came,

Altered Personality: Unlike the talkative and glib Crow, this Crow, er Timmy is deadly silent. He rarely exchanges words with people, but when it does it is usually in the form of insidious and offensive whispers and taunts. Timmy had no morals. His joy does not come from snarking, but from the discord he creates himself. His pranks take the form of violent bullying, biting and insulting whispers, and sociopathic staredowns. Timmy is the opposite of loud and funloving, he quietly abides like a deadly predator. Timmy has no real feelings of kinship with anyone, but rather he uses those who trust him to further his own weird need to destroy. Because at heart Timmy is an insidious sociopath whose only goal is to trap and destroy for fun. Those who come across him can describe him as quiet, creepy, and a bit unnerving. This is not the Crow who enjoys making fun of bad movies, this is the entity only known as...Timmy.

Altered Appearance: Timmy looks like a carbon copy of Crow, save only his new paint job--black all over. The Rolling Stones would be proud.

Character name: Prowl
Character journal: [personal profile] fun_police
Altered History: The course of events on Cybertron went largely the same way. Escalation led to revolution which led to Civil War between Autobots and Decepticons. The only change that permanently altered the course of Prowl's life was the successful escape of the neutral ship The Peaceful Revolution. His plans to desert the war led to leaving the conflict, the chaos, and the imperiled planet behind.

The subsequent four million years would be filled with exploration rather than ceaseless war. It was far from easy, and had it's own dangers which needed to be fought, but was nowhere near the level of violence and carnage of the Cybertronian civil war. He also reunited with his old partner Tumbler, and developed strong feelings for him as they looked for a new home with the rest of the neutrals, enough to become conjunx endurae.

Life as a neutral aboard the ship was largely nomadic, with the Peaceful Resolution drifting from system to system, leading to encountering and interacting with several alien species. Prowl insisted on continuing his role as a security officer aboard the ship, helping keep order in their uncertain time. There were brief brushes with the War as it expanded outwards, but the fact that they were mobile allowed the ship to keep out of its grasp.

Altered Personality: Life outside the War has subdued a lot of Prowl's more negative tendencies that had developed later. The fact that he was an officer and not a top commander allowed room for personal relationships, particularly with Tumbler, leading to a more open and socially adapted Prowl. He can't quite be called 'warm' or 'inviting', but he doesn't quite detest social gatherings like his warbound self. You could say he's more of a well-adapted introvert rather than a machiavellian sociopath. He may even attempt a joke or two among familiar company (you don't want to hear them they're pretty bad).

One thing that was particularly exemplified was his loyalty - in this case to the crew of the ship and to his conjunx endura. It took a long time to get invested in them, but once he did it was no holds barred. He'd do anything for Tumbler, even if it meant having to go against his own principles to do so.

SPEAKING OF PRINCIPLES. He has them and a strong adherence to them. Prowl isn't as naive as he was in the past, but he still firmly believes in following a code or set of ethics rather than an 'abstract' idea of order. Prowl is rather passionate in his love for the rules as he was before the war broke out, and still has a fiery irritation for anyone who feels like going off and putting people in danger to try some silly heroics. However, unlike his more manipulative self, he'll express it vocally and in your face until he feels you understand.

He's still got a strong attachment to tactics and an idea of the bigger picture, but it's tempered by by a healthy dose of social interaction and ethics. Essentially, he's not going to be huge prick and ruin your life through subterfuge.

Altered Appearance: Largely the same overall, though he seems a lot less fatigued and cynical.
fugitrix: (Default)

[personal profile] fugitrix 2013-10-22 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Character name: Arcee
Character journal: [profile] fugatrix
Altered History:
What we know of Arcee is that she's old -- at least six million years old -- and at one time she was taken by the famous cybertronian scientist, Jhiaxus, and experimented upon which not only drove her insane, but also left her discarded with constant pain and new gender pronouns.

To this Arcee, that never happened.

Arcee was taken off the streets and under Jhiaxus's 'care' as a bodyguard. His flexibility and combat skill made him a fast and deadly protector, sealed by loyalty to the scientist due to providing him with shelter and energon when he had nothing. An attempt on the scientist's life left Arcee injured, which prompted the mech to request upgrades from his employer. As such, Arcee was willingly experimented upon and upgraded.

He stayed behind when Nova's team left on the Ark and saw the rise of functionism. He was moved by the passion of Megatron's anti-functionist stance and joined the Decepticons in secret. Arcee acted as a spy, infiltration, and sabotage operative as the war came to head.

Without Arcee there, Garrus-9 fell during the original seige to claim the mechs that form Monstructor. With the use of the powerful combiner, the Autobots had devastating losses and without Arcee occupying the caverns on Gorlam Prime, the D-Void ravaged Cybertron before the Matrix restored it.

With the war over, Arcee found it difficult to socially adjust, even if the peace was something he desired. He worked closely with Shockwave, though eventually he came to realize that the mech and his former employer had no interest in true peace.

Altered Personality:
First and foremost, Arcee isn't crazy. Damaged by the war, cynical, and hardened-- but the mental instability isn't there. He's happy to return to peace and was one of the Decepticons who believed that the war was to abolish oppression, which had struck home with him considering his less-than-noble origins. When the Decepticons began to commit more and more atrocities, he was vocal about the moral wrongness.

Arcee is old and feels old; he misses Cybertron as he remembers and is content to practice old rituals. Unlike his female version, he has had millions of years of social interaction and finds it easy enough to interact and manipulate. Most of all, he wants a peaceful Cybertron where a battle mech like himself can lay down his weapons.

Altered Appearance:
Arcee still sports a pink paint job, though his frame is heavier and scarred as typical of a war frame. He also sports a purple Decepticon symbol on his chest armor. His armor is thick and he can withstand a beating most mechs his size could not.

Otherwise, Arcee still looks mostly the same and still uses swords.
