GAMEWIDE PLOT – THE BADLANDS
Hello, Re/Alignment!
Today we've got details of January's mod plot for you. Before we get into those however, a few reminders and elaborations on the geography of Re/Alignment's Cybertron are in order. Specifically, let's talk about The Badlands - which ever so conveniently also happens to be the name of this month's plot. What a coincidence!
Note that any character who has died in Re/Alignment will be affected by the first phase of this event, so if that applies to your character, please read this post carefully.

As you know, not all areas outside of the Haven are part of the Badlands. The majority of the surface of the planet is an unexplored and uninhabited wasteland. While the grounds of the Haven are under the protection of the Firstforged and therefore relatively safe, the wastelands are best thought of as neutral territory. The nights can be very dark away from Prima's light and monsters are occasionally found roaming the wastelands, but for the most part it's simply a very lonely, empty place. Then there are the Badlands: the most dangerous area of Cybertron by far.
When the Firstforged speak of the Badlands, they're usually referring to a very specific location: the original Badlands, the first spot of corruption and dark influence to appear on the planet. It's located a fair distance away from the Haven - about as far away as it could be, in fact, on the opposite side of Cybertron. For most characters, that means a day trip to the main Badlands is out of the question. (For that matter, it's an awful vacation spot: no room service, no free wi-fi, and you'll come back in a coffin if at all.)
However, just as the inhabitants of the Haven have the capacity to build and expand, so too do those of the Badlands. They want to claim the planet for their master just as badly as the Firstforged want to ready Cybertron for their creator. They're capable of establishing new patches of Badlands across the planet, some of which are much closer to the Haven than others. One creature in particular has gotten rather ambitious lately and set up shop close to the Haven, and has been slowly moving even closer (If your character has been to the Badlands, this is probably the area they’ve visited). Sometimes, you see, the Badlands and its denizens are not simply content to wait for refugees to wander away from the Haven. Sometimes the Badlands will come to you; and sometimes, the Badlands will drag you to it.
What does all of this mean for you and your characters? Well, from January 12th to January 18th:
» If your character has died in Re/Alignment, they'll begin to experience blackouts. They could be in the middle of an important experiment, they could be making a Link post, they could be reading or sleeping. It doesn't matter what they were doing or where they were at the time: they'll come to their senses in the wastelands outside of the Haven with no memory of how they arrived there. (Or simply on their way towards the wastelands, for those characters who lack a means of rapid transportation.) When they try to remember why, the most they'll be able to recall is the vague sense of something calling to them...
Whether or not you wish to log or post about the experience is up to you. The frequency is also at your discretion: it could be once, twice, daily, or several times a day.
» If your character has not died in Re/Alignment, you can still opt in to this phase of the plot! There's no official sign-up necessary. Note, however, that the experience will be less severe for those who haven't experienced a death in-game. They won't manage to make it any further than the outer border of the Haven before snapping out of it, and they won't experience it more than once.
**Please note that this information is provided for OOC plotting purposes: characters will not know the reason for their blackouts or the movement/expansion of the Badlands until it is explained to them ICly by one of the Firstforged later in the month.

EVENT TIMELINE
So what's coming up later in the month? Need a timetable?
» From January 12th to January 18th, characters who have died and those who wish to opt in will experience occasional blackouts, and zombie-walk their way towards the wastelands.
» From January 19th to February 1st, the Haven will be hosting some unwelcome visitors from the Badlands. We could use a few volunteers for a non-fatal maiming for this part! If you're interested, comment here so we can touch base with you and hash out the details.
» From February 2nd to February 8th, characters will be given an opportunity to do something about those unwelcome guests – if they're willing to work alongside Megatronus Prime. Those who do will be getting a fun, temporary power boost. Details and an opportunity to sign up will be given ICly later this month.
--
As usual, if there are any questions, comment here and we'll do our best to answer them. More information on the latter phases of the event will be provided as the dates approach.

Wonderful! Whirl is on the list, then. One of the mods will get in touch with you shortly to work out the details.
