Update re; opening log & rules policy
Hello, folks! This is the modstaff with some news and announcements regarding the opening of the game. As noted in the accepted notifs on your applications, the opening log will be a bit different than you may have otherwise been led to believe. In that log, there will be two main threads.
Characters will be starting in on the Junk Pile, waking up without so much of a trace of any Acolytes or other knowledgeable forms. This will be the first thread on the entry - tag and thread further as you'd like! Just please keep everything at that time period over here for organization.
About an hour of IC time later, the Firstforged will arrive; this will be the second thread. Cue confusion, and attempts at handling that confusion! But for your OOC convenience, we'll have some individual subthreads, too, where more one-on-one interactions with the Firstforged can be played out. This way we don't have to wait for that one to play out for (OOC) days until we get to things.
Now, a few notes; the Firstforged will recognize 'their' Refugees (aka you) via the Glyphs - AKA 'Marks of Primus'. Said Glyphs/Marks are supernatural markings on the upper arm (or somewhere else, if the character has no arms - they're /always/ on the form, somehow) that seem to be just a millimeter off the surface. They cannot be removed, period. End of story. You can try to hide them, but we honestly wouldn't recommend it. And while the Firstforged you share a polarity with will certainly encourage you to come back to their section of the Haven (or not, depending), you are under no OOC requirement to do so. If it'd be more IC for your character to go along with another - by all means!
That said, we'd like a moment to go on another topic. We'd first like to thank all of you for your enthusiasm - it's contagious! The mods are just as excited to start playing with you, too. So excited, we've already had a couple of points where we didn't check our own work, and went ahead and did things that went against what we already had written. In the interest of preserving the excitement, we ended up refining the rules a bit to accommodate - the biggest one being that CRAUs were decided to be close enough to canon characters to not require a month's activity before being applied for. Another was the Reserves; we adjusted our policy on the first round to allow for 2 per person. These changes were made with little fanfare, and in the interest of transparency, all future ones will be accompanied by a note in the OOC comm & mod plurk. To anyone who was confused or frustrated by these changes, though, we'd like to apologize - we got carried away.
The fact is, most of the material is still in a very rough state. In the first month especially, we'll be watching things closely to see what works and what doesn't, and be making changes accordingly. Like we said, we'll be making it clearer what we do change, but if you have any concerns, you're more than welcome to contact us!
With that, we'd like to remind everyone that we have an anon-enabled Mod Contact page. The best way, and indeed the most /sure/ way of bringing something to our attention is to use said page, or to directly contact a mod. Anon or not, we'll take everything with due seriousness, and promise not to dismiss anything out of hand. Whether or not the modstaff ends up agreeing with a player (or lurker) concern, we /want/ to hear them so that we can check ourselves on actions that may be perceived in a manner opposite from how they were intended!
