Plotting: Haven Games and Air Show

Hey folks. So I'm finally getting this going and just in time for Re/Alignment's first anniversary! You probably got the basic gist from Wing's network post so here are the rest of the details. Much of this is still flexible/tentative so keep an eye on this post for any changes.

The Games will last for three days, starting sometime the week of June 24th. (the 21st is the actual anniversary day, but I will be out of town on vacation at that time.) The location I'm thinking could be a crater in Nexus's quadrant, since it's fitting and sort of near the bar/Hub.

The big thing here to note is that I want anyone to be able to contribute to this. It's a co-op, Bring Your Own Activity type event. I'll make the framework, setup the log, and then there'll be a spot that people can create a subthread for any activity they wish to organize and run both OOC and IC. (please try to keep it to one activity per person so we don't get overloaded/spread out)

Want to organize an event but you don't have a character who would do it ICly? Team up with someone! The event is opt-in though, you don't have to participate if you don't want to. Any winners will be decided by RNG, facilitated by the person running that activity.

Organizing an event is easy. At minimum, you need:

1. Decide the details of said activity.
2. Send me a 1-2 sentence summary to add to the open log description.
3. Post a scene (just like you would in a log) featuring the activity when the open log goes up so people can mingle there. 
4. OPTIONAL: If you want to decide winners then you can look at who tagged in as a participant and RNG to find a winner.

Here's the event ideas that came out of my plurk about this. THIS IS JUST A START. Suggestions welcome. Any of this can happen at the Games but if you want a mingle area for it someone needs to take charge of it.

Claimed Activities:

• Airshow: (Wing organizing, Swoop to do a night performance)
• Scavenger Race: One mech and one humanoid must team up to fetch various items from each FF quadrant. Kind of like Amazing Race. (Drift organizing)
• Drag race or short-med distance race like 300 meters? (Knock Out organizing. We might not have roads done so we'll have to smooth some of the flat terrain.)
• Marksmanship competition (Strelok organizing, needs the help of a Cybertronian)
• Karaoke at the bar (Ravage will help but needs supervision)
• Medic tent (Red Alert organizing, Ambulon & Barricade volunteered to assist)

Unclaimed:

• Hauling: Feat of strength aimed at strong grounders/tanks but humanoids are welcome to compete as well. Could be either as a race altogether or each sees how far they can get in a specific time limit.
• Feat of strength that’s more human friendly (take something from Highland games?)
• General talent competition? Dancing, poetry, singing, musical performance, etc.
• Smaller carnival type games: tossing ping-pong balls, water pistols, pachinko machine?
• Paintball War *new
• Aerial obstacle course *new
• Any others? Suggestions welcome!

 

Anyone who wants to organize a game or activity let me know and I'll add it to the claimed list above. I'd like to avoid duplicate/similar activities so please check the list and replies here first. Thanks!

Scavenger race

I was thinking this could be obviously a team effort thing, with a speed component and a finding component. Each team would get a list of about four items or classes of items (like 'reading material' and they could find a book or a sign or a whatever they figured would fit that category title) that they could find anywhere along the circuit of the First Forged's palaces. There would be 'official' things, too, just in case, but those would require teamwork like climbing or bridging a gap to get to. I could draw out a few specs for these official stations.

Cheating and stealing others' items is of course against the rules...but only if Drift finds out about it.

Also cheerleading is awesome, for people who can't find partners.

Any ideas, etc, let me know!

I . . . would not have the first CLUE about how to run something. OTL (And TC is an even worse organizer than I am, tbh 9,9) But one thought I had if anyone want to take it up would be an aerial obstacle course race, maybe? The air show, I picture as a form of synchronized dance, while "race" sounds to me like something groundbound if not otherwise clarified, so I'm hoping that wouldn't be a repetition of sorts or even just too close to something already happening.

Unless they push and get like a strip done or something for the event, that will eventually be melded into the rest of the roads.

If you want to decide winners then it gets more complex but not by too much. Mostly that's just looking at who tagged in as a participant and RNGing to find a winner I think.

And aerial obstacle course would be fun! I do remember reading fic about Seeker Trials that included something similar.

That was sort of what I was thinking, a section near the Hub would work and make sense. But that's the best case scenario, if it's not feasible then we can certainly work around it. ^_^

OH. Oh good god. I'm having a train wreck of an idea here... Mostly because of plans I have for Wing in this event. PART of that being getting him drunk enough that he participates karaoke, (he hates singing in public okay?). Which is absolutely something Ravage could blog about later.... :|a

Oh, McCoy wouldn't mind doing a scavenger hunt if there are any of the younger gen doing it. Aka McCoy would rather accompany a youngster around to make sure they don't do anything stupid. If not that, he'd like to stand as medic for any "feat of human strength" contest, to tend to anyone who may get wounded trying to play Hercules.

Also, more details on the medic tent? Is that just the medics standing by in case of emergencies or whatever? Count Ambulon if that's the case.

Younger gen meaning human or Cybertronian? Since the team-ups are meant to mix the races and force them to rely on each other. Now I want to see McCoy cussing out some young, hot-shot Cybertronian.

No details on the medic tent yet, it or something similar was suggested twice and it's a good idea. So far it's basically what you said: a first aid/triage station for when OOPSIES happen. Exactly how that manifests or if it makes some CR mingle potential is undecided. Heck, there are enough medics, maybe we could find a way to create a competition for them too!

Strelok will be ALL OVER the Marksmanship competition, though he might integrate some trick-style shooting too (shooting with the weapon upside down/shooting over the shoulder using a mirror to aim/cutting a rope with nothing but bullets etc.). Obviously he will need help because human caliber weapons are not the same as Cybertronian caliber.

Swoop might do a nighttime aerial performance incorporating his fire breath. Like fireworks but not exactly! If they want it to go into the night, anyway.

Fracas would be up for the scavenger hunt, presuming he can stay on his feet or gets his flying under control by then. Helping people awh yeah \o/

Barricade might be able to get most of the firelizards on order to individuals finished in time for this. He could set up a sort of dance routine with them before he sends them to their orderers/owners. Otherwise he will probably be helping out in the medical tent. And obviously acting as a translator ;)

Hm . . . okay . . . I don't know that TC would have the drive to organize such a thing – he could do it if ordered, like if Megatron dropped it in his lap – but if someone else might take the head, he'd be more than happy to assist them, and I could probably help run the thread I guess. =3
