For the glyphless event reward (the extra character slot) will this be a permanent add to the player, or will it have to be filled within a set time?

In my case I'm asking because the new school year, and my last one, is starting soon, and I don't plan on apping more (permanent) characters during that time. So, in that case would the spot still be there when I had the time to add a character, or would I basically just have the fun of the event and miss out on actually getting the spot?
