Character name: Kagerou Character journal:thxforthememories Altered History: So way back when the whole BP project was just getting off the ground, there was that incident with Deckerd heroically waking up from his memory being erased and saving Yuuta from an evil robot and it was touching and everyone went on to have good, noble hearts.
Yeah that didn't happen. Part of it did, but instead of being rescued by his robot friend, the boy died in the incident. And no one was the same. Deckerd's "heart" was warped and darkened by the loss of the boy, and, since everyone else's AI was based on his, the "corruption" spread. Which brings us to the Ninjas -- who were still built as prototype and advanced model, still kept on their own, away from others, and all that. They kept their prototype locked in a little closet, until Shadowmaru was built, out of fear he would turn out to be like the other BP models had been. Kagerou really didn't take that too well.
When he was finally released, rather than the care and kindness Kagerou showed his double before, his "heart" had been hardened. He didn't want to be the shadow. Didn't want to be the prototype. He was angry, hateful, even. When he met Shadowmaru, rather than latching onto him, he loathed him, and did everything in his power to reverse their roles. He worked Shadowmaru to the point of collapse, to the point of severe injury, before taking him and personally repairing him, making him utterly dependent on Kagerou. And that his worth was secondary to Kagerou's. Kagerou eventually ran, as he was still slated to be erased, and Shadowmaru still gave chase. They fought, and he ended up killing Shadowmaru in the street. He was the one who joined the Brave Police, not Shadowmaru.
Altered Personality: This Kagerou radiates confidence. It's in every step he takes, every move he makes. He's loud, obnoxious, violent and dramatic -- all things he's learned will earn him attention he craves. He loathes silence, loathes stillness -- being quiet only when absolutely necessary. The quiet reminds him too much of his beginning, of the locked-in little room, and drives him absolutely mad.
He wants to be noticed, he strives to make his mark on the world more than anything. This drives him, more often than not, to violent outbursts especially in combat. What better to notice and remember you than your enemies? When he killed Shadowmaru, he realized he'd lost the biggest mark he'd made. It snapped some small, sane part of him, and caused him to continually strive for something else to claim as his, something else to make the world remember him by.
He hates being reminded of the other ninja, however, hates being called shadow, or useless, or anything pertaining to his past -- and reacts to such things very violently. He's still like a child, in some respects, but now he's a child who's learned that screaming and striking out will solve your problems. In that same vein, he no longer enjoys his own memories. He tends to lose himself dangerously in them, by virtue of his new habit of throwing himself wholeheartedly into everything he encounters, unable to pull himself back out.
Altered Appearance: Nothing really of note. A few scrapes and scuffs like "scars", but the rest remains unchanged -- EXCEPT he no longer wears his scanner like an eyepatch. It retracts up into his helmet, exactly like Shadowmaru's did. ... because he stole it off his corpse.
