Hey all!
I briefly mentioned this way back in my intro post, but since I'm actually going to bring Samus here into the game proper soon I figured I'd cover it again.

Sammy has a trusty Scan Visor as part of her suit and she'll be trying to use it on just about everything she comes across to gather information. Most of the time, the info retrieved by this scan is basic background knowledge. Like so:

New Species : Cybertronian
Sapient mechanoid alien species.
Almost all Cybertronians have adapted to maintain and switch between two or more alternate body configurations, leading to the common slang term 'Transformers.' Often one of these forms is humanoid in shape with robotic-equivalent hands and faces.
Extremely technologically advanced, but requiring immense power, they use hyper-efficient 'Energon' as both a power source and currency.

Occasionally this will give her insights into weaknesses in armor and details on weaponry or construction. BUT! If you'd like to not have Samus be able to scan your character (and keep everything nice and secret) I am absolutely fine with it! Or maybe you'd like some important bit of info to be found?

How does that scanner work? How is it able to get that background knowledge?

It's never how it works explained in game, but supplemental materials suggest that the suit carries with it either an onboard partial database or link to the Chozo archives - The Chozo being seriously ancient beings have amassed quite a lot of knowledge. It also has an analysis and decryption suite that can gather information on materials and biological / mechanical systems good enough for a 'best guess' at how things work.

To elaborate on my example above, a scanned Cybertronian would reveal extensive mechanical systems with no biological materials, as well as parts and motors that would serve no purpose in it's current form, suggesting an alternate. This information might trigger a flag within the database, retrieving other info on the species. Otherwise the level of intricacy and density in the scanned circuits would suggest both sapience and highly advanced tech. Energy spikes and radiation levels indicate an extremely powerful energy source. Granted I took some liberty with the 'Transformers' slang term up there.

I will definitely avoid having it be a magical 'know everything' device. Without seeing Korra do any firebending, the best it would be able to return would be "standard human - traces of unexplained energy'

I see no problem with Wreck-Gar being scanned. I imagine he'd read as being... similar to a Cybertronian, but with an abundance of redundant and possibly non-functioning parts and systems that make his workings confusing.

Go for it :3 If her scans are sophisticated enough, she can figure out he's got a deactivated inhibitor chip that most of the Cybertronians (in this world anyway) won't have!

Scanning is all good on Wing. It might pick up that his frame tech is different than all others from his universe, save Drift. Does it return weapons readings too?
